This video documents the beginning of the March for Justice for the wrongfully incarcerated. It was organized by Sharonne Salaam and her son Yusef Salaam. Yusef was one of the so-called "Central Park Five", who were 5 youths falsely charged with rape and assault on a white woman. After serving years in prison they were released. Their experience on release, with no compensation for the 5-11 years served in prision, sparked their determination that others in similar circumstances should be allowed more time to make their case in the courts and get compensation. The Central Park Five case was marked by illegal interogations of minors without counsel, as well as withholding of evidence that supported their claim of innocence.
