I’m eagerly running for the WBAI Local Station Board to help sort out the issues at WBAI and communicate to listeners the information, so they are not left feeling confused and anxious between opposing sides, but in the loop with facts and status of the BAI that we all love and support. I will use my expertise in improving work processes to define, develop, implement and measure success of work processes that will improve all facets of station from paper-clip purchasing to a kinder and gentler hiring and firing practice of the most humane organization, except when it comes to its own folks. I am doing this with the Justice and Unity Campaign (www.justiceunity.org)

I came to the US as a young child from Haiti. I grew up in Westchester, NY. Immigrant children master two worlds and reap the benefits from both. We gain a broader life experience to help us better understand, analyze, adapt, resolve, respond and effectively make changes to maximize our choices and access the system. My engineering background and 25 years of experience in various corporations means I have a very logical, analytical and critical thinking approach to things. I want to bring this to BAI.

If our biggest issue is alleged mishandling of BAI money and not paying rent, than why fire Bernard White, who as Program Director is not responsible for these bills? General Manager Tony Riddle, who was responsible for these bills, gets reassigned to the National Development Director position? Developing new areas of fundraising is one of the areas cited by Pacifica that BAI really needs. If we had the guy at BAI who Pacifica thinks is good enough to do this nationally, why remove him locally? Plus the station lost critical networks without Bernard and Tony that their replacements can’t deliver.

There ain’t nothing wrong with change. We progressives are fighting for it daily. Pacifica, don’t trivialize our outcry for injustice and nonsense, to fear of change. Cutting the morning show, that frames our day with the news, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally, so that when Amy comes on with more of a news magazine program and the rest of the wonderful lineup of the BAI day, we are well informed and can go into the details more relaxed, is a total misstep.

Many people are working hard to save BAI. We must work together.

Please vote for the Justice and Unity slate in this order to maximize votes:

2. Nia Bediako
3. Russell Dale
4. Sister Betty Dopson

6. Nana Camille Yarbrough
7. John Brinkley
8. Berta Silva
9. Sharonne Salaam
10. Myriam Decime
11. Carlos Canales
12. Terrence Podolsky
